He was mustered into service at Gallatin Tn in May of 1861. He was assigned to Gen.Robert Hatton’s 7th Tennessee Infantry Regiment. On May 31,1862, at the Battle of Seven Pines, Va., he was wounded and taken captive. He succumbed to those wounds on September 3,1862.
